The mission of OMSC is to strengthen the Christian world mission by providing:

• Residential programs for the renewal of missionaries and international church leaders;
• Research, publications, and scholarly forums for the advancement of mission scholarship;
• Continuing education in cross-cultural Christian ministries.

The Overseas Ministries Study Center has served missionaries and international church leaders for more than eight decades. We would like to invite you to join OMSC’s international and interdenominational community for a time of rest, spiritual renewal, and professional challenge.

In 1922 the daughters of Gospel hymn writer William Howard Doane founded OMSC in Ventnor, New Jersey. Relocated in 1987 to New Haven, Connecticut, one block from Yale University Divinity School and the renowned Day Missions Library, OMSC welcomes both long-term (one semester to a year) and short-term (less than a semester) residents.

In our facilities you will find fully furnished apartments and a graduate-level non-credit educational program focused on cross-cultural Christian ministries.

OMSC publishes the International Bulletin of Missionary Research. The IBMR is widely respected as a leading professional journal of mission research and reflection. Many of today’s foremost missiologists and mission thinkers appear both in the IBMR and as lecturers at OMSC.

Residents at OMSC live as a community. Missionaries and church leaders from around the world bring unique contributions, enriching all. Community life is guided by the principles of unity in Jesus Christ and fellowship in the work of his kingdom. Seminar discussion times and informal exchanges afford Western mission personnel opportunity to gain insight into the perspectives and concerns of seasoned non-Western mission and church leaders.
